WHY
HAKAI PASS?
Hakai Pass produces trophy salmon in great numbers. In fact,
the simplest way to explain Salmon Fishing in HAKAI is to say it
is the finest in the world.
Our first year at Hakai (1974) was long before the fishing world
recognized it as the finest Trophy Salmon area on the North
Coast. The area has now become well known throughout the world
and is the undisputed “Hot Spot.” With a long steady season
covering the entire summer, your trip can be planned around your
schedule. The giant Chinook Salmon, 20-80 pounds, run
throughout the season, while the feisty Northern Coho, up to 24
pounds, are at their peak during August and September.
Fishing for halibut, red snapper, sea bass and rock fish is so
easy we hardly mention it-it is just taken for granted.
Besides
the fantastic fishing, the pass is one of the most beautiful
places on earth. There are 50 miles of sugar white beaches,
driftwood piled as high as the trees, and hundreds of
unexplored, uninhabited islands. Whales and porpoises abound.
These
beaches and islands are alive with bald eagles, mink, deer,
otter and shell fish of all varieties. It’s a photographer’s
delight with the wildlife, crystal clear air, beautiful sunsets
and weather that changes several times a day. Hakai Pass is now
a beautiful remote wilderness area were fishing is now just as
it was in the “good old days.”
WHY HAKAI LODGE?
Hakai
Lodge is a rustic hideaway floating in the heart of the world’s
most famous trophy salmon fishing area. It is an old fashioned,
professionally run, destination fishing resort. The Lodge is
well established and has been in continuous operation at Hakai
with the same owner/operators for thirty-eight years. For
couples, family vacations, corporate entertainment, meetings or
seminars, Hakai Lodge is truly “The Ultimate Getaway.”

FISHING
Break
our Hakai Pass record of 76 pounds, while living in the
primitive luxury of the far North. Abundant salmon, together
with giant King Cod, Red Snapper, Halibut and white sand beaches
make this a getaway experience you’ll never forget.
Fishing
is easy in the calm and protected waters at Hakai. We provide
complete training on-site so the novices as well as the
experienced have an equal chance in these abundant waters.
After extensive training sessions you are fishing under the
direct care of our fish masters.
The
fishing boasts (Boston Whalers) are the best small fishing boats
in the world. While you fish two to a boat, they are rated by
the U.S. Coast Guard for six adults. The boats are unsinkable
and equipped as follows:
*Yamaha
outboard motor Level wind or single
*Padded swivel bucket seats action saltwater reels
*Deluxe
rod holders
*Life jackets
*8-11
foot mooching rods
*Insulated bait boxes,
and halibut gear, bait knives & all tackle
*Choice
of landing nets
While
fishing at Hakai you need never be out of sight of the Lodge,
but with these boats you will feel perfectly safe taking a day
away from fishing and exploring the coast and the hundreds of
islands. Lunches for such adventures are available at no
additional charge.
YOUR CATCH
Your
catch is cleaned, packed, marked with your name and promptly
frozen. We load your catch on your plane and it returns to
Seattle with you. Fish boxes and gel ice are for sale there,
for packing as baggage. We have also made arrangements with a
customs cannery if you want your fish processed. For an
additional charge, the fish can be left with them for canning,
vacuum packing and/or smoking. Please see Byron at the Lodge
for specifics. |

STAFF
Naturally we are proud of all the great things at Hakai Lodge.
The consistent fishing for 38 years, the beautiful scenery, the
mild weather, the great facilities and transportation system,
but the highlight of the whole experience is our STAFF, which
includes fish master, chef and baker (white uniforms and all),
waitresses, maids and boat boys. They are professional,

great quality makes the difference between an average experience
